Shelley Evenson

Managing Director Organizational Evolution and Strategy


Shelley Evenson is Managing Director for Organizational Evolution and Strategy at Fjord. Previously Shelley was a Manager and Experience Researcher at Facebook focusing on tapping into people’s needs and defining novel ways to respond. Before joining Facebook, she was a Principal in User Experience at Microsoft, collaborating with researchers and developers of new digital social media experiences. Shelley came to Microsoft from Carnegie Mellon University where she was an Associate Professor teaching interaction design. She integrated design innovation with business opportunities by collaborating with colleagues from the Tepper School of Business and the Human Computer Interaction Institute, and outside sponsors including GM, Intel, Microsoft, and Motorola.

While at Carnegie Mellon University, Shelley jumpstarted the study of service design in the U.S. by designing courses, energizing students, and hosting the first international conference on service design—Emergence 2006. She was a co-founder and is an advisory board member for the international Service Design Network. She served as co-editor of Touchpoint: the Journal of Service Design, and has contributed to several books and journal articles on service, interaction, and design strategy.

Shelley joined Carnegie Mellon University with more than 25 years of progressively more senior design and management experience in multidisciplinary consulting practices. Shelley served on the National Research Council's Committee on Human Systems Integration, and has been on the advisory board for both the American Center for Design and the AIGA. In 2010 she was recognized by ACAD as a Woman Innovator in Design.
