Kate Gabel is a service designer and researcher born and bred in the Midwest. She grew up with a rich appreciation for art and design, spending much of her youth in art museums with her mom while also training as a ballet dancer. Most recently Kate has tackled topics such as employee engagement and performance, as well as the future of financial, insurance and telecom customer experiences. As a service design manager in Fjord’s Chicago studio, she leads teams in creating innovative, meaningful experiences and solutions. Kate has deep experience in design research, strategic thinking and concept development. Her passion lies in uncovering people’s true needs and behaviors and she believes that thoughtful design is a powerful and crucial tool to improving people's lives. Prior to Fjord, Kate worked in a variety of design firms and agencies within Chicago, honing her research, analytical and communication design skills. Kate holds a Master of Design degree from the IIT Institute of Design. In her spare time she’s chasing after two beautiful daughters.
